Empirehouse Receives DBE CertificationPosted on May 31, 2013, by Kristine Hutera
Great news for Empirehouse! On May 31, 2013, we received notification that Empirehouse, Inc. is now certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (Small, Minority or Women Owned Business) as a glass and glazing contractor in the State of Minnesota through the Minnesota Unified Certification Program.
Last year, Minnesota’s Human Rights Commissioner announced changes to the state’s DBE percentage goals. In the Star Tribune article on March 27, 2012, the paper stated that the Commissioner wants up to 32% of state-funded work in the Twin Cities to be done by minorities. In addition, the Human Rights Department established a 22% minority hiring goal for state-funded construction in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Scott and Washington counties, replacing the previous goal of 11% percent.
With these new requirements, Empirehouse’s new DBE certification can help our contractor customers meet these challenging goals.
