Let’s hear it for TEAM!
Earning the 2018 MCA Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor Project of the Year Award for Westminster Presbyterian Church expansion was a team effort. Empirehouse partnered with Mortenson Construction and James Dayton Design as the architectural glass and metal contractor and engaged in design-assist services to bring the architect’s design intent to life.

Westminster 30-foot domed skylightThere are many specialty glass features that make up the Westminster Presbyterian Church expansion project, such as a 30-foot wide by seven-foot-high domed skylight, an over-sized sliding glass door systems, a folding glass wall system for sound control, and a structurally glazed point-supported system with heavy-tempered glass fins and glass units treated with a dichroic film application to simulate modern stained glass.

Dichroic glass installationThese unique glass features involved a collaborative effort between many members of the Empirehouse Team: Director of Sales & Marketing, Project Manager, Project Assistant, Drafter/3D Modeler, General Superintendent, Director of Fabrication, Project Superintendent, Safety & Quality Manager, and Glazing Foremen to accomplish this project on time, safely and within budget, while overcoming project challenges, and providing innovative solutions for constructability through the design-assist process.
