Central Park of Maple Grove is an all-season community gathering space for people of all ages to enjoy. During the summertime months visitors can walk the labyrinth surrounded by scenic gardens, hike or bike the trail system, take up a friendly game of basketball or pickle ball, while children cool off in the outdoor splash pad with interactive fountains after playing on one of seven play zones. Wintertime invites ice skaters to enjoy a unique ice skate loop. Central to the park is the 15,000 square foot multi-season warming house and event center.
Empirehouse was awarded the architectural glass and metal contract by RJM Construction for the Central Park of Maple Grove event center project. Empirehouse teamed with RJM to establish budgets during the design-development phase and provided valued engineering options for the unique break metal cladding systems.
Glass, glazing and fabrication scope
The most unique glazing features of the Central Park of Maple Grove project were the gable-end curtainwall and break-metal trim. Kawneer ultra-thermal aluminum curtainwall framing system met the performance criteria and was installed and glazed with Viracon VUE1-40 with argon glass units to meet the performance requirements. Other glass and glazing scope are storefront, 10′ automatic doors, and borrowed lites using 5/16″ and 1/4″ tempered glass with low ‘e’ coating on surface #2 for energy efficiency.
The Empirehouse production team fabricated large curtainwall ladder sections with many unique angles to produce the gable-style design. The glazing crew was led by Foremen Mark Schindele and Brandon Schindele. The installation team used a scissor lift and 85′ lift to set frames and glass lites through the winter and spring months.
