The flag ship YMCA Midway project is conveniently located along the Light Rail Green Line in St. Paul, MN.
Empirehouse teamed with McGough Companies and LSE Architects, Inc. as the architectural glass and metal contractor. The main façade features a dual-cantilevered curtainwall which is uniquely suspended off of a precast plank.
Empirehouse fabricated and installed a total glass area of approx. 7,000 square feet of exterior Wausau Super Wall—a male/female screw-splined, fully captured, aluminum pressure-wall curtainwall. At vision areas, Empirehouse installed a clear insulated glass with high performance low ‘e’ coating. At non-vision locations, colored laminated insulated glass with high performance low ‘e’ coating, insulated clear outboard spandrel glass with high performance low ‘e’ coating, and standard color frit were installed.
Empirehouse also installed clear anodized aluminum non-thermal, center-pocketed, flush glazed storefront framing systems; single and double doors; borrowed lites; and frameless mirror walls.
An innovative planning method was used to schedule all trades and meet the project end date. Despite a tight timeline and minimal lay down areas, the Empirehouse glazing team completed the project safely and on schedule.
The YMCA Midway was selected as one of the Finance & Commerce Top Projects of 2015.
